Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, VSTM2L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of VSTM2L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where VSTM2L RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types VSTM2L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUSC and READ show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, LUAD, and LUSC are the cancer types where VSTM2L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
