Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, VPS53 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of VPS53’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where VPS53 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types VPS53 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LIHC, KIRC, and CHOL are the cancer types where VPS53 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
