Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, VN1R8P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 1 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of VN1R8P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where VN1R8P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types VN1R8P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA are the cancer types where VN1R8P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
