Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, USP16 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of USP16’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where USP16 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types USP16 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, LIHC, and KICH are the cancer types where USP16 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
