Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, UPK3A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of UPK3A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where UPK3A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types UPK3A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and HNSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, LUAD, and LIHC are the cancer types where UPK3A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
