Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, UBE3A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of UBE3A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where UBE3A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types UBE3A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, LIHC, and HNSC are the cancer types where UBE3A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
