Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TOR4A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TOR4A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where TOR4A RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TOR4A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and LUSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRP, HNSC, and KIRC are the cancer types where TOR4A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
