Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TMEM63A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TMEM63A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where TMEM63A RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TMEM63A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and LUSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, KICH, and STAD are the cancer types where TMEM63A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
