Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TMCO5B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 4 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TMCO5B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where TMCO5B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TMCO5B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, KIRP, and LUAD are the cancer types where TMCO5B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
