TMC4

Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TMC4 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TMC4’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where TMC4 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TMC4 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, KIRP, and BRCA are the cancer types where TMC4 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
