Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, THRA RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of THRA’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where THRA RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types THRA is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, LIHC, and LUAD are the cancer types where THRA tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
