Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TFAP2D RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TFAP2D’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where TFAP2D RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TFAP2D is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUAD, LUSC, and BRCA are the cancer types where TFAP2D tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
