Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TBC1D8B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TBC1D8B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where TBC1D8B RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TBC1D8B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

HNSC, KICH, and THCA are the cancer types where TBC1D8B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
