Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TAF1 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TAF1’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where TAF1 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TAF1 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, HNSC, and LIHC are the cancer types where TAF1 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
