Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TAC4 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TAC4’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where TAC4 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TAC4 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, LIHC, and KICH are the cancer types where TAC4 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
