Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SULT1A4 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SULT1A4’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where SULT1A4 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SULT1A4 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
BLCA, STAD, and LUAD are the cancer types where SULT1A4 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
