Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, STAG3L5P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of STAG3L5P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where STAG3L5P RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types STAG3L5P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

HNSC, COAD, and KIRC are the cancer types where STAG3L5P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
