Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ST6GALNAC4 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ST6GALNAC4’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where ST6GALNAC4 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ST6GALNAC4 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LIHC, BLCA, and LUAD are the cancer types where ST6GALNAC4 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
