Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ST3GAL5 RNA is linked to patient survival in 24 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated ST3GAL5 data layer compared with 1 for mutation status and 3 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where higher ST3GAL5 RNA is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated ST3GAL5 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as BLCA and CESC show a favorable association.
BLCA, KIRP, and CESC are the cancer types where ST3GAL5 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
