Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SSC5D RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SSC5D’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where SSC5D RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SSC5D is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, UCEC, and KICH are the cancer types where SSC5D tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
