Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SPG7 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SPG7’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where SPG7 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SPG7 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, HNSC, and KIRP are the cancer types where SPG7 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
