Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SPG11 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SPG11’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where SPG11 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SPG11 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, LIHC, and CHOL are the cancer types where SPG11 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
