Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SON mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 4 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SON data layer compared with 26 for mass-spec protein and 11 for mutation status.
The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where higher SON mass-spec protein is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SON expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as LUAD and LSCC show a favorable association.
HNSC, LUAD, and PDAC are the cancer types where SON mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
