Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SNORD71 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 5 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SNORD71’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD), where SNORD71 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SNORD71 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.
STAD, COAD, and THCA are the cancer types where SNORD71 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
