Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SNORD51 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SNORD51’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where SNORD51 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SNORD51 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.
COAD, KIRC, and CHOL are the cancer types where SNORD51 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
