Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMYD5 Mutation is linked to patient survival in 2 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SMYD5 data layer compared with 24 for mass-spec protein and 6 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC), where higher SMYD5 Mutation is associated with better disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMYD5 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UCEC show a favorable association.
UCEC and SKCM are the cancer types where SMYD5 Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
