Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMTN mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 3 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SMTN data layer compared with 25 for mass-spec protein and 8 for mutation status.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where higher SMTN mass-spec protein is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMTN expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as CCRCC and PDAC show a favorable association.

LUAD, CCRCC, and PDAC are the cancer types where SMTN mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
