Across TCGA patient cohorts, SMTN protein abundance is significantly associated with the RNA expression of many other genes, with 11,793 significant associations in total. CCRCC shows the largest number of these associations.

The most reproducible SMTN-associated genes across cancer lineages are MYL9, ACTA2, and CNN1. Each is linked with SMTN in more than 9 cancer types. Because this analysis shows association rather than direction, both SMTN-to-partner and partner-to-SMTN results are reported.
