Across TCGA patient cohorts, SMS mutation is significantly associated with the total protein of many other genes, with 16 significant associations in total. UCEC shows the largest number of these associations.

The most reproducible SMS-associated genes across cancer lineages are FoxM1, Cyclin-E2, and INPP4B. Each is linked with SMS in more than 1 cancer types. Because this analysis shows association rather than direction, both SMS-to-partner and partner-to-SMS results are reported.
