Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMPD2 mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 4 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SMPD2 data layer compared with 24 for mass-spec protein and 1 for mutation status.

The strongest signal is observed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC), where higher SMPD2 mass-spec protein is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMPD2 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as GBM and LSCC show a favorable association.

CCRCC, GBM, and LUAD are the cancer types where SMPD2 mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
