Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMPD1 mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 6 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SMPD1 data layer compared with 22 for mass-spec protein and 4 for mutation status.

The strongest signal is observed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC), where higher SMPD1 mass-spec protein is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMPD1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as CCRCC and LUAD show a favorable association.

CCRCC, GBM, and LUAD are the cancer types where SMPD1 mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
