Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMO mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 3 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SMO data layer compared with 21 for mass-spec protein and 8 for mutation status.

The strongest signal is observed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC), where higher SMO mass-spec protein is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMO expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UCEC show a favorable association.

CCRCC, UCEC, and LUAD are the cancer types where SMO mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
