Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMIM8 RNA is linked to patient survival in 27 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated SMIM8 data layer compared with 2 for mutation status and 4 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD), where higher SMIM8 RNA is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMIM8 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as PAAD and LUSC show a favorable association.
PAAD, BLCA, and LIHC are the cancer types where SMIM8 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
