Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMIM34A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 1 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SMIM34A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney chromophobe (KICH), where SMIM34A RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SMIM34A is over-expressed in tumor.
KICH are the cancer types where SMIM34A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
