Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMG9 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SMG9’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where SMG9 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SMG9 is over-expressed in tumor.
KIRC, BLCA, and COAD are the cancer types where SMG9 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
