Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMG1 Mutation is linked to patient survival in 4 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SMG1 data layer compared with 28 for mass-spec protein and 5 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in thymoma (THYM), where higher SMG1 Mutation is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMG1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UCEC show a favorable association.
THYM, UCEC, and CHOL are the cancer types where SMG1 Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
