Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMC5 Mutation is linked to patient survival in 4 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SMC5 data layer compared with 26 for mass-spec protein and 5 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), where higher SMC5 Mutation is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMC5 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UCEC show a favorable association.
BRCA, UCEC, and LIHC are the cancer types where SMC5 Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
