Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMC5-AS1 RNA is linked to patient survival in 17 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated SMC5-AS1 data layer.

The strongest signal is observed in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), where higher SMC5-AS1 RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMC5-AS1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UCS and LUAD show a favorable association.

ACC, LGG, and UCS are the cancer types where SMC5-AS1 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
