Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMAD5-AS1 RNA is linked to patient survival in 23 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated SMAD5-AS1 data layer.

The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where higher SMAD5-AS1 RNA is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMAD5-AS1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as LUSC and MESO show a favorable association.

LUSC, KICH, and LGG are the cancer types where SMAD5-AS1 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
