Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SLK RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SLK’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where SLK RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SLK is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, LIHC, and UCEC are the cancer types where SLK tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
