Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SLC6A11 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SLC6A11’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where SLC6A11 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SLC6A11 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as COAD and READ show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUAD, HNSC, and LIHC are the cancer types where SLC6A11 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
