Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SLC23A2 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 8 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SLC23A2’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where SLC23A2 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SLC23A2 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

HNSC, THCA, and UCEC are the cancer types where SLC23A2 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
