Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SLC16A8 RNA is linked to patient survival in 24 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated SLC16A8 data layer compared with 4 for mutation status and 5 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in uveal melanoma (UVM), where higher SLC16A8 RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SLC16A8 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as HNSC and BLCA show a favorable association.
UVM, HNSC, and BLCA are the cancer types where SLC16A8 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
