Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SHMT2 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 16 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SHMT2’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where SHMT2 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SHMT2 is over-expressed in tumor.
KIRC, COAD, and BLCA are the cancer types where SHMT2 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
