Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SHMT1 Mutation is linked to patient survival in 2 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SHMT1 data layer compared with 25 for mass-spec protein and 6 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where higher SHMT1 Mutation is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SHMT1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker.
HNSC and ESCA are the cancer types where SHMT1 Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
