Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SHF RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SHF’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where SHF RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SHF is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, THCA, and BRCA are the cancer types where SHF tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
