Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SHBG mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 5 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SHBG data layer compared with 21 for mass-spec protein and 6 for mutation status.
The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where higher SHBG mass-spec protein is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SHBG expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as CCRCC and HNSC show a favorable association.
COAD, PDAC, and CCRCC are the cancer types where SHBG mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
