Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SFN RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SFN’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where SFN RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SFN is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, UCEC, and LIHC are the cancer types where SFN tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
