Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SEMA5A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SEMA5A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where SEMA5A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SEMA5A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUAD, KICH, and COAD are the cancer types where SEMA5A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
