Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SEMA4G RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SEMA4G’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney chromophobe (KICH), where SEMA4G RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SEMA4G is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KICH, KIRC, and COAD are the cancer types where SEMA4G tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
